Carrot Cake crave
It is one of those days when all you want is just anything sweet. True, even for a non sweet tooth like me, those days exist. Guess I should wait for tomorrow to come since it is almost 9 pm here and there is no way I can go out in time for a slice of a delicious and moist carrot cake.
Yes, carrot cake. A dessert I fond the most. Tho... I think there is one thing wrong with it... the name. Carrot. Blah.
What is your craving today?

Sebuah Pengakuan
Saya bukan pecinta Kartini.
Walau raga saya tak setetespun dialiri darah priyayi.
Tapi sungguh, saya bukan pecinta Kartini.
Itulah mengapa saya bahkan tak menerbitkan tulisan ini pada tanggal 21 April lalu.
Bukan pecinta, maka... wajar jika saya lupa.
Mungkin juga karena saya tak cukup pintar untuk mengerti?
Yang jelas...Saya memang bukan pecinta Kartini.
Tapi alasannya mengapa... Tidak bisa saya katakan disini.

Marilyn Monroe's Rare Photos
Another one on Monroe? Hmmm... I own a vintage shirt with her picture on it. I love it. Will share you a picture of me wearing the shirt later. And, of course you may have noticed that her name pops quite often in this blog. When LIFE published this rare picture series of hers, there is now way that I will wait on another second to post it here. This beauty deserves it.
All photos from LIFE .
Faux Matilda!
I spent my childhood life with my Grandparents (Mom's parents). My Grandpa was a teacher at a Christian High School , so being showered with books is just one of among other perks I used to boast about.
Well, I still do so today. I mean, who grew up as a 7 year old with a free access to a high school library?!*proud face.

When I was introduced to Roald Dahl's "Matilda", (the same year when I needed to finish NH Dini's "Padang Ilalang di Belakang Rumah"- since my Grandparents always determined to introduce me to the Indonesian literature at first) I got hooked!
Psst... I still have the copy of the two mentioned books at my house in Jakarta . Rad, yes?

Anyway, this page: Unshelved that I just stumble upon has a faux (tweaked/bloopers comic) version of "Matilda" in it (which makes me laugh like a 7 year old) .
I wonder if they will consider to have some of Indonesian's literature to be published there too someday... :)

Inspiration Sunday:Let's make love
Presenting you, one of my dearest song from an ensemble made in heaven; Fourplay.
Pay attention to the chorus' lyrics. Might give you and your loved one some ideas on -you know what I mean :)
Meanwhile... Enjoy the song!
To be one character in a book you love
Ha! I love it when randomness attacks, just like now. This one gets me excited and wondrous. Though, it is not a difficult question for me to answer:
If I can be an additional character in a book, the book will be… TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD.
Here goes the entire plot I can imagine vividly. Me, being a 7 year old girl. (Body being as thin as a board, with frizzy hair and an awkward smile) I will spend my afterschool hours hanging out with Jem and Scout and Dill. When we sneak into Boo Radley’s house, I imagine being the first one who walks in. Though, on a second thought; I might be the first running away.
I would be one character with such curiosity that I will insist to get a lot of chance talking to Atticus. He seems to know it all without being pompous. I have such adoration towards that man and somehow, he reminds me of the great Abe Lincoln.
I would spend a night or two so that Jem will tell me his boyish secrets and I can play dress up with Scout using my Mom’s dress.

How about you? Is there any particular book that you wish you can be part of as a character? Or, is there a character you would gladly replace?
What about “The Cather in The Rye” ? (I so want to be friends with Holden). Also, I want to replace Bruno’s mother in “ The Boy in a striped Pajamas” . I mean, if I were a wife and a mother, I would be as brave as a Tiger in protecting its cub.
Have you read Pramoedya’s “Gadis Pantai”? Would you be a character who is courageous enough to ask Mas Nganten to leave all her misery behind?

Awesome Monday: Awesome guests
Well hi there. Can you imagine what happened before they take the picture here? Did they enjoy tea and scones? What was the conversation like? Did Charlie entertain them with his witty wisdom? Or, perhaps... they watch one of his movie?
I am back, sweethearts! And hopefully, my Awesome Monday still has its charm on you!
ps: My friend Anom posted a comment, reminding me that 15th April is actually the anniversary of Charlie Chaplin. What a coincidence! It has been a year since I first mention about Charlie on his 122th Anniversary .

To Make you Feel my Love
My understanding about American Idol is close to zero. No argument here and I have no hesitation that the show continue to convey many-many talents covering all music genres and give the winners a well deserved fame. I just do not watch TV that much. So, the same opinion goes to any other show; reality shows with celebrities on it, master chefs... you name it, I do not know anything more than just the title.
But, I love watching family serials form DVD. Parenthood is one of my favorite. Just finished wrapping up season 2 and the wedding scene of Crosby and Jasmine- (the two strong-headed lovers ) in the finale episode make me swell. Why? The background music as the bride walks into the aisle is just... hypnotizing. A song that I knew as a song written by Bob Dylan is performed so enchantingly by the choir in the movie. The next thing I know, I glued myself to YouTube to look for the video and fell for this one.
If any of you have the video from Parenthood finale season, please show me the link...

Anyhow... I am enjoying this one too, a video from Kris Allen who happens to be one of the talented singer from that show I have never seen before :)
ps: I am not into the looping images, I just want you to read the lyrics. Sweetness.

The one you feed
I just read a fine well-known legend about two wolves and just want to re post here for a reading pleasure and food for the soul.
A Cherokee elder was teaching his children about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to them. “It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”
The grandchildren thought about it and after a minute one of them asked, “Which wolf will win?”My Idea of Happiness
Life. Beach. Waking up to a blue sky and chirping birds (just like this morning). Coffee. Yes, coffee. Message from a sister: I miss you! Cuddling in bed with my other 4 siblings (and one of them is a 183 cm tall young man)
Check listed items on your task list. Finishing a work. Good photographs. Design.
Ben Taylor. Jack Johnson. The Beach Boys. The Beatles. Manicure and pedicure (oh, I am crazy about them).
A surprising kiss from your boyfriend in the middle of a busy restaurant. Dinner. Sunset. Beautiful poem. A toddler kissing you on the lips. A toddler whispering you a secret. Pretending that what you saw on television are all hoax. The bad news, I mean.
My mom nagging but then we laugh at the end. Friends and shallow conversation over a busy week. Calla lily, Peony, Baby's breath. The smell of old wooden chairs at church. Books. Old books. Good pen to use. Did I say beach? Good food. Cabernet Sauvignon. Reunion. The smell of your significant other's perfume on your sheets. Dogs. Bible verses. Jesus. Home. You.

Trent Walton on Blogs
“There’s something sacred about reading a blog post on someone else’s site. It’s like visiting a friend’s house for a quick meal ’round the breakfast table. It’s personal — you’re in their space, and the environment is uniquely suited for idea exchange and uninterrupted conversation. In many ways, we should be treating our blogs like our breakfast tables. Be welcoming & gracious when you host, and kind & respectful when visiting.” – Trent Walton
To my girfriend(s)
So it has been a while. I know so. No need to go into details here, but I am back. I had a chance to talked via messenger with 2 of my girlfriends this week and there are 2 things that came out of them that still surprises me to this second.
" I wish can be as a free soul and spirited as you are Abel, maybe it will be easier for me to handle hardships in life"
" I know you have your own pace and space, I know you have your right to either keep things with you or to share... But, try not to surprise us too much, okay?"
Those came from people I care about. So, what they say matter. A lot.
Typical me, I tend to keep it to my self, think about it when I am alone in my little loft so that I can get a well round understanding about things.
I am not that much of a free soul. Even if I am so close to it, it took me a lot to get there. Maybe you know about it. I just happen to have a very limited listening skill when it comes to negative force. That's all. So when things get hard, when people talk bad, when they laugh at my dreams, when they're reasoning my failures... All I am hearing is this buzz... bluuurp... blop and...beep. Maybe, you may want to try that. You know by heart, whatever you are facing will not affect those people's life. So, never let them do that to you.
And for that surprising step I just made? I know you are happy for me too. When I decided to let love in (after a period that some people considered as centuries), it surprise me too! I am sorry that I did not make you part of the questioning phase. And thank you for pointing this one to me- that you think of me as big deal. Somehow, it seems to be a familiar way for me to share things when I at least have a long haul idea about what it's going to bring. Your tremendous understanding is filling me with such grateful feelings. Thank you.
I love you both girls. Catch up soon.

7*365
1 April 2012 |
It has been 7*365 days... :') I know you are not there in the deepest layer of the earth, I know you are nowhere underneath the tomb...
You are in a majestic home.
A home I am heading with only His glorious grace.
Till we meet again Bapak, even-though I cannot tell you when...
Love,
Your eldest (who often acted like your youngest)

Words and I
Taken from one of my favorite movie; can you tell what the title is?
I can totally relate and bow my head in an agreement. Despite the fact that I am stuck with words now, I still look through it for remedy.
I learned that the only way to escape from this writer's block it is by believing in its own power. Weird? Well... When it comes to words and I... That's how we roll.
